Participação em projectos/Participation in Research Projects

 

Ongoing research project on the history of the intersections between music and technology on the modern operatic stage. A book, provisionally titled, Opera's Techno-Aesthetics : On the Lyric Culture in Nineteenth-century France , is in preparation.

 

2007 to the present. Member of the board of directors of CESEM. Organizer of the research center´s music colloquia series (since 2006).

 

2008 - Sponsoring partner of a European research network on the theme “Singing Actor/Acting singer: Performance, Representation and Presence on the Operatic Stage, 1600 to the present.” The three main partners in the project are Dr. Susan Rutherford (University of Manchester), Dr. Clemens Risi (Freie Universität, Berlin) and myself. The project has been awarded 14,000.00 Euro funding from the the European Science Foundation for the organization of a Exploratory Workshop program which will take place in Manchester, 23-25 June 2008. 2007-2010 - Researcher in the three-year multi-institutional collaborative project “The Teatro de S. Carlos: Performing Arts in Portugal. The project covers musical editions of Portuguese opera, studies of operatic iconography, performing practice and staging in Portugal. It is funded by the Fundação de Ciência e Tecnologia, Portugal and began autumn 2007.

 

2007-2010 - Researcher in the three-year project “The Recording Industry in Portugal.” My participation in the project consists of studying the early history of opera recording in Portugal. The project is funded by the Fundação de Ciência e Tecnologia, Portugal and is to begin in 2008.

 

2007 - Co-Organizer, with Karen Henson (Columbia University) of “Technologies of the Diva” an Interdisciplinary, International Conference, held at Columbia University, March 2007.
