The Society for Ethnomusicology has awarded professor
Frederick Moehn's article "Music, Mixing, and Modernity in Rio de Janeiro," published in the UK journal Ethnomusicology Forum in 2008 (vol. 17/2), the Jaap Kunst Prize. The prize recognizes "the most significant article in ethnomusicology written by a member of the Society for Ethnomusicology and published within the previous year." Professor Moehn is Associate Researcher at INET-MD. (16/12/2009)


Professor
João Pedro Oliveira, director of INET-MD’s research area in Musical Creation, composer and teacher at Aveiro University, has again been awarded an international distinction: the Civitella Ranieri Fellowship, a prize granted by the Civitella Ranieri Foundation (USA/Italy) which honors artists, writers and musicians from around the world with an exceptional talent in their areas. The Department of Communication and Arts (DeCA), University of Aveiro (UA) and INET-md (Institute of Ethnomusicology - Center for Music and Dance) are pleased to announce the realization of the Post-in-progress (post-ip ):
