Portugal. Music from Entre Douro e Vouga

Susana Sardo and Jorge Castro Ribeiro

"The great musical variety of Entre Douro e Vouga – a
region of northern Portugal – where polyphonic singing for
2 or 3 voices, a large stock of songs associated with
religious practices (prayers, hymns, songs for Lent,
Christmas carols) duel singing and also brass bands,
groups of cavaquinhos, guitars and accordions give
evidence of a strong local identity that helped keep
long-lived its traditions."
